Abstract

--------------- IN ENGLISH: This paper presents the biographical and bibliographical background of Croatian philosopher and sociologist Jasenka Kodrnja, while also examining her key philosophical and scientific themes: women artists, myths, the Hera complex, feminism, public space, linear time, and the culture of the Other. Jasenka Kodrnja is one of those philosophers whose life can truly be said to embody her philosophy. She deeply studied feminist philosophy and gender theory, taught these ideas to her students, explored them in her academic research, expressed them poetically in her writings, and applied them in her own life—sometimes at great personal cost to her career and well-being. Being a feminist in a deeply patriarchal society, as well as a staunch advocate for justice in any unjust society, is far more than experiencing occasional discomfort from dissenting voices. It often means living in a constant state of conflict and enduring lifelong frustration. Jasenka Kodrnja’s life and work were defined by an unwavering commitment to this struggle, which she endured with both suffering and occasional triumph. For Kodrnja, philosophy was not merely an intellectual pursuit, but a vital means of survival in a society she (rightly) believed was in desperate need of change. She herself was a force behind that change.
