Abstract
The title of the book indicates the field of the research and the methodology which contains the pluralism and the interdisciplinarity. The phenomenon of contemporary/modern art is being approached scientifically, aiming at uncovering its ontological foundations and socio-anthropological characteristics. The basic thesis is that, in the time determined by science and technology, the essence of art has undergone changes. The book has XIII chapters and a conclusion. Aesthetic Reflection of Max Bense (Chapter III) and Foundations of Scientific Aesthetics (Chapter IV) deal with Max Bense's aesthetic reflection as paradigmatic for ontological analysis of modern art. In the rich material of 20th-century art, Desire for Purity (Chapter V) follows the ontological changes of its essence, its connections with the society as well as with the forms of modern spirit. Mathematical-Geometric Description – Topographical Scheme of Existence (Chapter VI) analyses ontological modes of existence and art. Symbolist Aesthetics – The Symbol of Existence (Chapter IX) researches the art process as the symbolist process with theoretical inauguration of aesthetic semantics. In Technical Consciousness and Aesthetic Existence (Chapter VIII) the essential relation between the modern technique and modern art as well as its implications for the art are being considered with theoretical and philosophical consistency. Aesthetic Reflection as the Form of Art (Chapter X) analyses reflexive and researching character of modern art; it is the necessary mediation term which changes ontological character of art. Informational Processes of Modern Art (Chapter XI) – the author consistently develops previous theses into a new aesthetic and civilization medium: informational processes. Theory of Realization (Chapter XII) considers the essential cognitive-theoretical defect of classical /bivalency/ logic in the new civilization theoretical premises: the new logic demands the third term, reflection, as the aesthetic process appears to be essentially reflexive. In Aesthetics and Civilization (Chapter XIII) a particular attention is being paid to the explication of socio-cultural and civilization characteristics of the contemporary world and of the influence they have on changes of man's perceptive and anthropological structure.
